George Bowie

George Bowie currently presents the breakfast show and the GBX show on Bauer radio Station Clyde 1. More people wake up with George Bowie than any other radio presenter in Scotland!
George describes himself as witty, sexy, big-nosed and barking. The rest of the Clyde 1 team agree with 50% of the previous statement.
Listen to “Get Bowied at Breakfast” each weekday from 6.00 am till 10.00 am on Clyde 1 with George.

George worked the Glasgow club circuit before joining Radio Clyde at the age of 19 to work in the production office for a couple of years before presenting various night time shows on the Glasgow station.
Moved to the breakfast show in 1996 and has kept the show at number 1 in the ratings ever since, winning 2 Sony Awards and 3 New York Radio Awards along the way.
In 2008 the GBXperience returned after a Bebo campaign (yes really Bebo) to bring it back on Radio.

It started as a 90-minute experiment and saw the market share of audience rise from 8% to over 30%, which means almost a third of people listening to the Radio on a Saturday night are tuned in to George Bowie Experience, which is unheard of in today’s busy radio marketplace.
George Bowie has DJ’d d from Miami to Ibiza, Iceland, Amsterdam and beyond. Hometown gigs included supporting Pink! On the Summer Carnival tour at Hampden Park in 2010. Playing to 10,000 at the SECC in September of this year and not one but two sell-out GBX show at The Arches in 2011 with a third planned for December 31st. GBX Anthems volume 1 in 2008 and volume 2 in 2009 were two of Scotland’s biggest selling albums during the several Christmases, and both reached the top 3 of the HMV dance and electronica charts.

George is not available for weddings or private parties.

The Big Shoogle

The Big Shoogle is a high-energy ceilidh and covers band with a rocky twist, with over 25 years’ experience playing at countless wedding receptions, corporate events, Caledonian Society events, Hogmanay , Burns nights, parties, graduation balls, school proms, and festivals at home and overseas including headlining the Ceilidh Tent at the famous T in the Park festival on a few occasions.  They play regularly at the top ceilidh venues in Edinburgh, as being one of the house bands at The Ghillie Dhu, regulars at the ceilidhs at Stramash, and at the Edinburgh Ceilidh Club.

Comprising Accordion (with midi bass/keyboards), Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Fiddle, Drums, 2 vocals and ceilidh dance caller, they have a quite unique approach to the traditional tunes with occasional mashups of rock songs and riffs in amongst the jigs and reels while keeping it rooted in the Scottish tradition. It’s full of surprises. As well as having an extensive repertoire of traditional jigs, reels, marches, waltzes and so on they have a collection of rock and pop cover songs which they often play in the latter part of the evening if so required.

They “call” all of the dances ie. give ceilidh dance instructions to everyone – therefore no previous ceilidh knowledge or experience is required, everybody can participate and they always enjoy getting folks through some of the steps and it’s even more fun when they mess up!  They keep it informal but with clear and concise instruction.  It also encourages a lot of interaction and backchat between the band and everyone in the company which the guys very much enjoy.

Davie has over 25 years’ ceilidh-calling experience and takes great pride in making sure that the dance floor is full and that everyone has fun!

They have their own PA/sound system which is adaptable to suit small, intimate venues all the way up to large ballrooms.
They have their own LED and laser stage lighting system.                                       They have playlists of background music on iPods that they play during any breaks, and if guests decide that they want to dance to that they’ll crank up the volume a tad to create a more disco-type vibe, man… If a bride and groom, or an event organiser has a playlist of their own, the guys are more than happy to connect their device to the sound system.  They carry a selection of the most common adapters to facilitate this.

Their ceilidh setlist includes all of the most popular ceilidh dances including The Gay Gordons, Dashing White Sergeant, Strip the Willow and many more but also a couple of more unusual dances which are real showstoppers!   To add to that, on request, they will play for some of the most well-known Scottish Country Dances like The Duke of Perth, Reel of the 51st and Hamilton House if the guests present know the steps.

They’ve played in top venues around the UK and overseas for every kind of audience imaginable in Paris, Brussels, London, Copenhagen, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Baku, Florence, Pisa, Bishopbriggs and Bonkle
