Williamwood Pipe Band play for parades, gala days, concerts & corporate dinners. They also provide solo pipers, drummers and mini bands for weddings and special events
The band has grown from a Boys Brigade band which was formed in 1946. It is based in the South -side of Glasgow where it practices twice per week.
They currently have over 50 members whose ages range from eight to over seventy.
The aim of the band is to sustain the growth of Scottish musical culture, to teach anyone who wants to learn, to encourage youth development and to spread the joy of music through our performances in both competitions and gigs.
The band is a grade three band and has successfully competed in Pipe band competitions.
Overseas connections are very special to the band and they have frequently performed in Muhldorf am Inn and Balingen, Germany; Tapia de Casariego, Spain; Morocco; United States of America and Turkey.
They won 1st Place at Bute Highland games and were 1stat Paisley pipe band competition.
In 2013 the band achieved the following results at the major championships in grade 4B: 3rd in British Champs, 5th in Scottish Champs, 6th at Cowal and 9th in the World Championships.
