John Barrington is a retired hill shepherd who keeps himself busy as a storyteller – indoors or outdoors! His repertoire reflects his knowledge of the countryside and the stories of Scotland: its history and folklore, myths and legends, characters and heroes. He also tells ghost stories and his speciality is leading story-packed guided walks through the Trossachs, an area of wooded glens, braes, and lochs lying to the east of Ben Lomond. He is the author of Red Sky at Night (Luath Press, 2013).
Each week he presents three 60 minute sessions in whisky, wine and gin. Twice a week he lead walks (with stories) for Loch Lomond National Park, and he was used as a motivational speaker by the Scottish rugby squad in the lead up to the 2015 World Cup. He is a volunteer with Trossachs Search and Rescue team and is a first responder with the Scottish ambulance service.
