Brilliant after dinner speaker & presenter Chick Young is one of Scotland’s best-known TV and radio pundits.
Topical & funny Chic Young is a popular, after dinner speaker, host and auctioneer. Chick has hosted dozens of dinners, charity balls, and sporting events around Scotland.
Chick has had a 30 year stretch of working on newspapers and magazines all too numerous to mention. Many are long gone and he is proud that he played his part in their demise.
He admits that several of his early newspaper editors would be astonished at the number of journalistic awards which he has gathered along the way. But not half as much as me, he says.
He is the former football correspondent for BBC Scotland and he reports for Friday Sportscene, Sportscene Match of the Day and Reporting Scotland on television and Sportsound, Good Morning Scotland and Newsdrive on Radio Scotland.
Chick is the captain of the legendary charity football team Dukla Pumpherston, a motley crew of former professional players and television personalities who tour the country – indeed the world enjoying themselves while raising cash for excellent causes. They are best described as a drinking team with a football problem…
Along the way Chick has spoken at many major dinners – and a few dodgy ones – throughout Scotland and has shared the top table with such eminent figures as Lord McCluskey, Sir Alex Ferguson, Jimmy Hill, Jim Leishman, Denis Law, George McNeil, Gordon Smith, Murdo MacLeod, others among the great and good of Scottish sporting and showbiz life and one one memorable occasion George Best, a man who needed no introduction – because he never turned up.
