Barrhead and Dstrict Pipe Band

Barrhead & District Pipe Band is a competitive Scottish pipe band based in Barrhead, East Renfrewshire.

The band was formed in 2013 and began competing in 2018, developing from a local community band into a successful competition outfit.

The band has enjoyed a particularly strong period of competition success. During the 2025 season, Barrhead & District achieved wins at several major competitions, including Gourock, Innerleithen, Ardrossan and the UK Pipe Band Championships. The UK Championship victory was recognised in the Scottish Parliament.

Following that successful 2025 season, the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association promoted Barrhead & District from Grade 4B to Grade 4A for the 2026 season.  The band is now competing at Grade 4A level alongside established bands from across Scotland and beyond.

The band is led by Pipe Major Iain Grant, with the pipe and drum corps working together with a strong emphasis on musical standards, discipline, teamwork and continuous improvement. Barrhead’s Grey Stewart tartan is part of the band’s distinctive identity. Current competition listings confirm Iain Grant as Pipe Major and the band’s Grey Stewart tartan.
