Brian Kellock is one of the UK’s finest and most in-demand jazz pianists, acclaimed for a distinctive, swinging style of playing.
Over three decades, he has been the first-call for visiting American jazz musicians who appreciate his skills as a sensitive accompanist and the fact that his knowledge of “The Great American Songbook” is second to none – so whether you wish to hear tunes by Burt Bacharach or Fats Waller, or some favourite Sinatra numbers, he can oblige.
Brian Kellock – jazz pianist, available as a solo player or in a duo (with bass) or a trio (piano, bass, drums or piano, bass, guitar)
His reputation as a national treasure on the Scottish music scene has taken him to jazz clubs and festivals all over the world. He has performed for royalty at Holyrood Palace and his elegant playing has added to the classiness of some of Edinburgh’s best-loved hotels, from The Balmoral to The Scotsman.
He recently developed a new solo show – Brian Kellock, By Special Request – which highlights his gift for spontaneity: half of the programme comprises on-the-spot requests from the audience.
Brian’s many accolades include two BBC Jazz Awards; Jazz Musician of the Year 2011 at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards and Best Instrumentalist at the Scottish Jazz Awards 2019.
