Last Tram tae Auchenshuggle
Last Tram Tae Auchenshuggle - Ceilidh Band
Ceilidh Dance Band

Last Tram Tae Auchenshuggle are one of the most popular bands on the ceilidh scene and have built their reputation over the last few years through playing at many festivals and functions both in Scotland and overseas. They are a highly talented, up-tempo ceilidh band. They are Glasgow-based but have been Shuggling audiences worldwide and nationally from Abu Dhabi to Auchtermuchty, Dubai to Dornoch, Brussels to Barrhead, Copenhagen to Coatbridge, Guernsey to the Gorbals, London to Leith, Paris to Pollockshaws, Partick to Pisa – the list goes on…

Last Tram Tae Auchenshuggle are twice World Ceilidh Band Champions.
The Band featured recently in a film for the Scottish Tourist Board
which is being televised worldwide, promotion Scotland. They have been appearing on a programme on the Discovery Channel in the U.S and Europe about Edinburgh’s music and social scenes. They are regulars at Glasgow’s Riverside Club and Edinburgh’s Caledonian Brewery ceilidhs and have performed at many festivals including Celtic Connections, Mayfest and most recently T in the Park. They have played for the St. Andrews Societies and Caledonian Societies in Abu Dhai and Dubai.

They Play for all functions including large corporate events and weddings, most notably the weddings of Supermodel, Kirsty Hume and Four Weddings and a Funeral star, John Hannah.

They played for the opening of Scotland House – The Scottish Parliament House in Brussels and at the recent “Thistle Awards” in the Edinburgh EICC.
The band also played at the world’s largest ceilidh for the World Rotary Club Convention in the Glasgow SECC for an audience of over 4500.
They recently supported Capercaillie at Stirling Castle Esplanade to an audience of 6000 for Stirling’s 2002 Hogmanay celebrations. The show was a major success.

Their music is a contagious mix of Scottish Dance with a healthy smattering of Rock and Cajun. Sometimes more Deep Purple than White Heather! Early booking of the band is essential as they are a much sought after outfit.

Last Tram play mainly for ceilidhs although they do play for concerts, with different arrangements of material more suited to a concert setting. The band’s accordion player, Davie Morrison, is also the band’s caller (That is – the guy who does all the talking, insults guests indiscriminately and teaches the dances). He can talk people through all the dances so that nobody attending any of their ceilidhs will feel left out. His humorous, tongue-in-cheek approach to this is an integral ingredient of the Last Tram’s performance.
Their repertoire of dances is grooving all the time as is the musical repertoire which keeps the band sounding fresh, with new tunes and arrangements being introduced to the set regularly. The music comprises mainly of Scottish and Irish traditional along with a few of the band members’ own compositions. Although much of their material is traditional it is often played in different styles, from Cajun to funk and jazz to metal. Their music has been described as “manic” from pumping basslines and rocky riffs to haunting airs and flowing waltzes. In previous lives the guys in the band played in other bands with different styles which explains the eclectic nature of the music. The Last Tram sound is indeed greater than the sum of its parts.

Davie Morrison – Midi accordion, wah-cordion
Martin McLean – Guitars
Gordon Roberts – Drums
Archie MacAllister - Fiddles
