"A Million Pound Bash" was how the press described a star studded party held by the well known Glasgow business man Sir Jack Harvie at his beautiful home in Milngavie, Glasgow. A marquee beautifully decorated was the venue for a star studded line up at what was undoubtedly one of the most lavish parties ever held in Scotland. The invited audience of 300 guests were treated to a fantastic night of fun and entertainment with no expense spared, by the quality of the entertainment and hospitality. Leaving some of the guests completely awestruck! Neil Drover and his team put together a fabulous programme of entertainment with top TV presenter Carol Smillie introducing the incomparable Des O’Connor, Russell Watson, the chart topping opera singer known as “the Voice” and the American superstar, the fabulous Dionne Warwick and her band flown in especially for the occasion. Acker Bilk and his paramount Jazz men, Bobby Wishart Jazz trio, stilt- walkers, jugglers, magicians, caricaturists, string quartet and Mischief La Bas as the Paparazzi helped to create a fantastic atmosphere in the gardens and in the marquee during the dinner. After the cabaret the guests danced into the wee small hours to The Drifters and one of the UK’s top Show-bands Alpha Connection! Neil Drover and the team worked for nine months prior to the event, liaising with Sir Jack, planning and organising the entertainment, stage set, lighting and sound, event crew, engineers, technicians, photographers, film production cameramen, accommodation and flights for 50 musicians and entertainers, and all travel arrangements from airports, hotels and to and from the party. Sir Jack wrote to Neil Drover "I have received a large number of comments from my guests and all have expressed their appreciation and enjoyment of the entertainment package you put together for my 70th birthday and, I wanted to add my own personal thanks to you and your staff for a job well done."
