Kay Adams

Kaye AdamsKaye's relaxed, professional and versatile presentation style has involved her in a wide variety of network programming for BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5.

2004 has seen her anchor the 8th series of Loose Women, ITV's ever popular daytime show and in many ways, Loose Women is a perfect fit for Kaye. It's live, topical, unpredictable and involves a considerable amount of 'make it up as you go along', all elements she thrives on. The format allows her to do what she does best… pulling the strings… and gives her sharp wit free rein. Her background though is a good deal more weighty.

Kaye started out as a graduate trainee at Central (Carlton) Television concentrating on political and news journalism. She chalked up her first major coup shortly after joining the company by securing an hour-long TV interview with Margaret Thatcher, the then Prime Minister. For the next few years, Kaye remained focused on hard news but a chance opportunity to host a discussion show for Scottish Television set her off on a different path.

The show, Scottish Women, ran for six years, won a number of Awards and still ranks as one of the most successful STV has ever produced. It also marked the start of Kaye's career as a talk show host.

Since then, she has presented ITV Weekend Live (ITV network),three series of Central Weekend Live with Nicky Campbell and John Stapleton, 'Kaye', a network show for BBC2, Esther, also BBC2 network and Pride and Prejudice for BBC1 Scotland. Loose Women has been running since 1999.

As well as being a skilled ring-master, Kaye is recognized as a talented and perceptive one-to-one interviewer. She presented two series of It's Your Funeral for Channel Five conducting half-hour interviews with the likes of Germaine Greer, Brian Blessed and Sarah Mills. She has also guested as an interviewer for BBC1's Heaven and Earth.

Although Kaye enjoys the cut and thrust of live discussion and interview situations, she is equally comfortable in other TV formats. She hosted 104 episodes of The People Versus, produced by Celador for ITV and found it very enjoyable. She was a regular contributor to 4x4, BBC1's current affairs strand and has also managed to indulge her twin passions of design and motoring by presenting The Home Show and Wheelnuts for Scottish Television.

Recently, Kaye has been building up a portfolio of voice-over work and is currently recording commentaries for a twelve-part documentary series for BBC Scotland.

Off-screen, Kaye is very much demand on the corporate event circuit. In addition to chairing conferences Kaye is often booked as a keynote motivational/team-building speaker and has also developed a training programme aimed at senior executives to enhance presentation skills both in delivery and content.

She writes a weekly column for The Daily Record and is currently overseeing the production of a six part series which she pitched to Scottish Television as an original idea.
