Eric Thompson MBE
After Dinner Speaker
Eric began his after dinner speaking career under the Atlantic when he toasted 'The Immortal Memory' of Nelson on Trafalgar Night. As a Scot, it was not long before he was also toasting 'The Immortal Memory' at Burns suppers (but not underwater). By the time he had risen to Commodore of the Clyde
submarine base at Faslane, his reputation had spread far beyond the Navy and he has now performed at dinners from Plymouth to Aberdeen including a Variety Club bash at the London Hilton and the annual dinner of the Institute of Marine Engineers at Grosvenor House.
His other grand venues include Glasgow City Chambers; Edinburgh's Signet Library; Draper's Hall in the City of London; and Lancaster's magnificent town hall where he had the honour of being the only speaker at the Submarine Centenary Banquet.
However, he still enjoys the more intimate audience and has even performed in a Glasgow comedy club. Eric is equally comfortable telling the farcical tale; reciting his own comic verse; or delivering a serious message. As he always tailors his scripts to suit the audience, he has been able to enthuse people of all ages and types from schoolchildren to senior citizens; 'stag' to 'hen'; corporate to club; and English to Scots.
He is also regularly in demand as a compere. His comic poem, 'Ally Shanter', won the BBC Radio Scotland Burns Bicentenary poetry competition. He is a graduate of the Strathclyde University Stand-Up Comedy course.
His performance in the first Glasgow International Festival of Comedy, was described as "brilliant" on BBC's Fred MacAulay Show. His first book of comic Verse, 'Colquhounsville-sur-Mer' has just been published.
Eric is a deep thinker in more ways than one. He is a Chartered Engineer; Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Engineers; post graduate nuclear engineer; Master of Science; JP; Deputy Lieutenant of Dunbartonshire; member of Strathclyde Police Board; former Non Executive Director of an NHS Trust; Freeman of the City of Glasgow and is currently Liberal Democrat Councillor for Helensburgh East. He was awarded the MBE in 1979 for leadership during a submarine emergency but, despite all that, he can't resist the funny side!

She is also in demand as a presenter, writer and producer of corporate videos, and presenter of conferences, fashion shows, award ceremonies and debates.
Joe Camay
“Camay is a dry, Erudite and extremely articulate comedian: He is naturally and irresistibly funny – a highly original comedian who deserves nothing but success.”
This was part of a recent review in the stage newspaper.
Joe Camay has been a full time professional comedian since 1992, working predominantly in mainstream club land in Scotland i.e. Bowling Clubs, Golf Clubs, Social Clubs etc… He is also one of the most popular after dinner speakers in the country. He participates regularly in corporate Golf Days (Joe plays to a Handicap of 8).
He has also worked in England, N.Ireland & Germany and appeared on the oil rigs in the North Sea, H.M Forces bases around Britain and in HM Prisons. He has toured the theatres with “The Drifters”, “The Inkspots”, “The Commitments” and most recently with “Dr Hook”.

and also appeared on ITV’s talent show “Pot of Gold” hosted by Des O’Connor.
Joe was the highest scoring comedian ever on a T.V talent show and also featured in a series of three commercials for Belhaven Beer.
Since the halcyon days of Chic Murray or Billy Connolly there has not been a comedian who has made a similar impact: Joe Camay is doing that now!

Since then he has has numerous television appearances on 'The Comedians' and 'Video Entertainers' before headlining his own TV special 'Success with Stan'. He is as popular as ever, flying all over the world working in cabaret and theatre.
He is available for any type of event from the smallest function to a large corporate event. His style is unique and he has many admirers worldwide, many people say that he is the best stand-up comedian to date and has been for many years.
John Simonett
Corporate Entertainer and After Dinner Speaker
John Simonett is a former schoolmaster and sportsman. He was a member of the Scottish Rugby Union squad and played in the Gloucester team, which won the John Player Cup at Twickenham in 1978. He holds a first class honours degree from Bristol University. In 1985 he left teaching to become a professional corporate entertainer and after-dinner speaker, and is now firmly established as one of the
most original and entertaining Speakers on the "circuit".
He has appeared at many conferences and other corporate events, both in the U.K. and abroad. His clients include major multinational corporations, many of whom have used his services on a number of occasions. He has also appeared on television, both on BBC and ITV.
John specialises in the "tailored" presentation and requires a full briefing before each speech so that he can personalise his delivery. He is well known for his ability to remember numerous names and details of people in the audience, and the nature of their business, and is able to refer to these in a positive, non-offensive manner. His talks often have a motivational theme, and he is able to highlight important messages such as teamwork, leadership, problem solving and personal achievement, depending on the nature of the event
His main objective, however, is always to be funny, clean and entertaining. As a "spoor' he is often introduced as a "consultant" (or other business expert) about to give a serious talk, until it gradually dawns on the audience that all is not quite what it seems ! As well as speaking at dinners John has often made presentations to enliven a long day in conference, either with a slot to open the proceedings, or as a "summariser" at the end. He has also acted as a host or facilitator to ensure the smooth running of the whole event.
In addition, as a silver star member of the Inner Magic Circle, John also makes use of some clever magic as a "visual aid" halfway through his talks, introduced gently, as a surprise, and which he relates to the theme of the event. Presented as a demonstration of "creative thinking", his routines involve the audience in a series of amusing exercises in "problem solving" and the "use of logic".
Equally at home with an audience of 500 or at a board meeting for twelve, John's charismatic personality and presence, together with his combination of humour, memory and magic -tailored to a client's specific brief- provides a unique and refreshingly different alternative to the traditional after-dinner speaker.
Previous clients include: Oracle / Nat West / Unilever / Shell / Glaxo / IBM / Sony / ICI / 3M / Porsche Cars / BT / Cadbury Schweppes / Cellnet / Lucas Aerospace / Aon / Hewlett Packard / Reed Business Publishing / Merrill Lynch / Whitbread / Esso / British Airways / Volvo / Canon / British Aerospace / Price Waterhouse Coopers / Fuji / Citibank / The CBI / Reuters / Dunn

Perry McCarthy
At the age of 42, Perry McCarthy is one of Britains top racing drivers and is already part of motor racing folklore. McCarthy’s rise through the ranks along with close friends Damon Hill, Johnny Herbert and Mark Blundell, has been against all odds and in a sport dominated by finance he recalls how he started with nothing and then lost it all!
Perry’s 10-year fight to reach the sports elite paid off in 1992 when he was chosen to drive for the fledgling Andrea Moda Formula One organisation. The dream however turned into a nightmare as the team stumbled from one disaster to the next and in recent years he has turned his attention away from Grand Prix to Le Mans and the demands of Sports Prototype racing.
As always, Perry’s exploits are well chronicled but when he is on the track his talent and determination shine through. His sense of humour is legendary and is frequently aired in his articles for leading publications and in his work as a TV commentator and programme presenter.
McCarthy’s bubbly personality and absolute refusal to concede defeat have made him popular with the press; The Telegraph headlined him as a new cult hero The Times called him the worlds unluckiest racing driver and Americas Sunday Express described him as a comedian locked inside a racing drivers body.
In a career spanning over twenty years, McCarthy is still smiling and still fighting. Along with Germanys Frank Biela and Finlands Mika Salo, Perry was recently chosen as a works driver for Audi UKs high profile 2003 assault on the famous Le Mans 24 Hour race. However, away from the track, Perry has used his experiences to become a superb after dinner and motivational speaker who gives a highly amusing insight to the worlds most glamorous sport.
Testimonials

I have been delighted to work with Perry on a number of very high profile events for Auto Express magazine and he's always delivered the goods professionally and above all entertainingly, prepared to do that little bit extra to make things work. We'll be working together again soon and I look forward to it!
Phil Parker, Group Publishing Director, Auto Express
I just wanted to drop you a line to thank you so much for the brilliant drivers' briefing you did for the Revival. Your future as an entertainer is definitely assured! Thanks so much for bringing such a light touch to the proceedings and very much hope to see you soon.
Charles March, Goodwood
Perry is a one-off when it comes to TV. He's one of life's bubbly characters and is a real plus for a programme maker. Add to the mix his knowledge of Motor Racing, and he was certainly one of the stars of our show.
Charles Balchin, Executive Producer, Sky Sports F1 Digital +,
Thanks Perry: like all good men, you rose to the occasion on the night! A spot-on speech, beautifully crafted with just the right amount of humour. Not only did an international audience welcome having you there as 'anchor-man', but our client appreciated the way you understood the message they wanted to deliver, and integrated this with top audience entertainment. Bill BARCLAY
Edinburgh-based (Leith-bred), singer and comedian and after dinner speaker Bill Barclay has learned his trade over years of hard and, for audiences world-wide, extremely entertaining work. Bill Barclay is second-to-none with the comic's stock-in-trade, "one-liner", and has compered many events drawing upon his immense fund of "cracks" as well as taking the stage in his own right to produce side-splitting responses world-wide, from Abu Dhabi to Ascension Island.
In the course of an illustrious career spanning more than 30 years, Bill has appeared supporting the likes of Rod Stewart, Elton John, Bill Haley and Dusty Springfield and has played to huge audiences at rock festivals like Reading, White City and Lincoln.
Bill can be regularly seen in his sergeant's uniform popping up in Taggart (Scottish Television) and Rab C. Nesbitt (BBC TV Scotland). Over the years he has played various characters in Take The High Road (Scottish Television), in which he has now a regular part as the local bobby.
For the past 20 years Bill Barclay has presented his own radio show on Edinburgh's premier commercial radio station, Radio Forth. He is currently the lunchtime show presenter on Forth's Max AM station from 1200 - 1400 Monday to Saturday.

Bill Copeland
Bill Copeland is a lawyer practising in Lanarkshire. Until recently he specialised in criminal defence work, but, following the swingeing cuts in Legal Aid, he has become a conveyancer - there is now more money in acting for those buying houses than those breaking into them!
Born in Govan, a quaint fishing village on the banks of the Clyde, home to Sir Alex Ferguson and Billy Connelly, Bill attended the local primary school. It was so rough there was a boy in his class who was allergic to peanuts and they used to take him round the back of the bike shed and make him play Russian roulette with a packet of Revels! There Bill learned the three R’s - Rangers and Rangers Reserves!
Thereafter he attended Allan Glen’s School, which was selective; as he wasn’t not doing too well he was selected to go only on Fridays! Eventually he left with 6 A Levels - but was caught at the gate and made to return them to the Headmaster! He then studied at Strathclyde University, graduating B.A., LL.B. - which his criminal clients think stand for “buy us a lager and a large Bacardi!”
Bill is married to Marilyn from Larkhall. It’s a mixed marriage - she’s a human being and he’s a lawyer! - and he dotes on his daughter, 12½. It’s a daft name but Marilyn chose it! At Bothwell Castle Golf Club he plays a mean game of golf – he won’t pay the green fees!
Bill has been a regular outstanding performer on the after-dinner speaking circuit for several years now, building up an unrivalled portfolio of experience in handling the entire range of speaking assignments. He has travelled the length and breadth of the country from Wick to the Channel Islands – and even ventured out into the North Sea to the oil rigs off Norway! - entertaining clients. Corporate events for leading government bodies, major national and multi-national businesses, professional bodies and trade associations; sporting dinners for football clubs, major and minor; rugby dinners, posh and proletarian; golf club prize givings, annual dinners and days out, prestigious and humble; Burns Nights; Rotary Clubs, and countless charitable organizations – all have warmed to the unique brand of Copeland humour. Bill is equally at home addressing audiences of 70 as 700, and he’s happy to tailor and customise his speech to any specific requirements.
Bill’s mission statement as a speaker is to follow his grandfathers old adage - “Always leave them begging for more!” - which was the very attitude that led to granddad being struck off as the world’s worst anaesthetist! A recent newspaper review stated that Bill Copeland was pushing back the frontiers of comedy and reaching into new and hitherto undiscovered areas of humour - or rather the critic’s actual words were: “That Bill Copeland’s getting beyond a joke!!”
Bill’s wit has also hit the airwaves as a guest on BBC Radio Scotland’s early morning topical news and chat programme “The Fred McAulay Show.”
