The Versions - Band for Hire
5 piece, all-live, rock and pop covers band
The Versions are one of Scotland's Premier wedding and social function bands. The band was formed in 2000 and all of the members are all accomplished musicians having previously been involved in the professional music scene both in the U.K. and U.S.A.
With years of experience providing superb live music and with a track record of hundreds of successful weddings, social functions and gigs, The Versions is the wise choice for music on your big day
Yet even with such a long and stable background and a deserved reputation as one of the leading Scottish wedding and function bands, we retain a fresh, fun outlook. Your function is approached as the unique event it is. Our guarantee is a hugely enjoyable and memorable event for your wedding or celebration party.
Performance
We're proud of the fact we're an ALL-LIVE act - everything you hear on the night is played and sung live by the band - we don't rely (as many now do) on pre-recorded tracks or computer-generated backing.
The band has been described as ‘a function band for people that like bands’. If you like to go to gigs, watch live bands, then The Versions are the function band for you.
The technical flexibility of this line-up, blended with versatility and experience, enables us to provide a high standard of musicianship, playing songs from bands throughout the years. These are all rehearsed and performed to professional standard.
The band can supplement the entertainment package with the addition of an accordionist for ceilidh dances if requested.
Our Track Record
The band have a vast amount of touring and recording experience, with members being previously involved in high-profile Scottish bands such as Murmur, Geiger Babies and Stylus Automatic.
Past musical credentials include touring with Simple Minds, playing the T in the Park Festival and securing a recording contract with a major record label. The band has a great reputation as a live act. Rather than a compile a long list of venues and events we’ve played, we’ve summarised it to give you an appreciation of the flexibility and popularity of the band. Venues include a number of independent hotels, hotels in the larger hotel groups (Hilton, Thistle etc.), country house hotels, corporate parties, university and college graduation parties, country estate and sports clubs, many large and successful social & recreational clubs of various types, and a large number of pubs and clubs etc.
Although we are versatile performers of a large range of cover material (i.e. other well-known artists’ songs), that doesn’t mean we’re just a bland imitation of everything we do. We take time and care over all our arrangements, no matter what musical style, so that the end product is authentic, convincing and robust.
We review and update our musical material constantly, and rehearse frequently, to take account of contemporary and chart material, while still retaining classic favourites.
The artists below are just a sample of the set the band might play. Those listed have been selected mainly to demonstrate the breadth of material we cover.
